What is the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation (CSF) of Bridgewater-Raynham / Dollars for Scholars?

We are a non-profit organization working for the benefit of Bridgewater and Raynham young people who desire higher education.  All committee members are volunteers.  Last year, we were able to provide graduating seniors with Scholarships totaling $55,000.

Who may apply?

All graduating seniors who reside in the towns of Bridgewater or Raynham and attend any public or private school, or are home-schooled, may apply.  All graduating seniors from other towns who attend Bridgewater-Raynham Reginal High School may apply.  Each student must have participated in at least two CSF activities, including at least one door-to-door event.

How and when do students apply?

Students apply by visiting bridgewater-raynham.dollarsforscholars.org starting in January.  Students may also be eligible for national scholarships through the Dollars for Scholars website.

How are scholarship winners chosen?

All award selections are based on a ranked combination of need and merit.

The Awards Selection Committee will score applications using the point system outlined by Scholarship America's Dollars for Scholars office.  All awards will be determined on an anonymous and non-discriminatory basis.

Need is determined by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov.

Merit is determined by a combination of scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and participation in CSF activities.

What are the responsibilities of the student?

Students are required to participate in at least two CSF activities during their four years of high school.  The primary CSF activity is the door-to-door drive which takes place in early spring.  All students, starting their freshman year, are encouraged to sign up.  Students must meet the deadline for applying online through the Scholarship America website during their senior year.  The deadline this year is April 26, 2018.

How can parents help?

  • Volunteer as a parent driver for the door-to-door drive;
  • Contribute food for students and parents on the day of the drive;
  • Encourage your son/daughter to participate in CSF activities; and
  • Help your son/daughter through the application process.

Who contributes to CSF?

Does the applicant have a choice of schools?

Yes, he or she may choose any college or university, junior college, technical school, or school of nursing.

May I sponsor a scholarship?

Yes!!!  Any individual business, fraternal group or civic organization may sponsor a scholarship with a contribution of $300 or more.  Memorial scholarships in the name of the particular person designated by the sponsor are also invited.
